If you’re like most of our clients, during this time you’re hungry for good information. That’s great! There is a lot to know about hiring the right contractor so that your project gets insulation installed properly.

This is a lot of information—as it should be. If you are serious about investing in insulation, you don’t want to make a costly mistakes when hiring. You are getting ready to spend $1,000-$20,000 — hence the need for great information.
Are you trying to compare Stellrr’s price to a competitor?
Here is what you NEED to know…
- Time Sensitive. This estimate may be withdrawn if not accepted within 15 days. After 15 days, the Client must request a new proposal in order to proceed with the project.
- Compensation. Client shall pay as set forth above. If the materials manufacturer issues a price increase before the install, Stellrr will notify client of added costs. In the last year, costs increased almost 30%. The trend will likely to continue.
- Invoicing & Payment. Invoice for a $500 deposit will be issued to Client upon acceptance of the Estimate. Deposit invoice payment is required BEFORE Client will placed on the project schedule.
Problems With Insulation Install Price Estimates
Shawn, the Founder, and I are sometimes told that our price is higher than a competitor’s quote. Every time this happens I ask, “will you please show me the competitor’s written quote so we can compare?“
Guess what!? 
93% of price differences are because the competitor quoted:
- less material installed (5in vs. 7in required)
- different sq. ft. measurements (left out walls)
- or different materials (foam vs. fiberglass)

Will you please send me the quotes you’d like for me to help you compare? Shawn and I will create the best possible deal for you. I will eliminate the differences so that my quote matches theirs. Most of the time my price will be essentially the same.

Wait! Read that last bullet again. It is IMPORTANT.
Shawn and I frequently have people call us in PANIC after the “other guys” are hired.
Meet my friend Teresa who called me in desperation after having a cheaper competitor do her project. Let’s call that competitor “Sharky”. Sharky was 20% cheaper than I was. Sharky quoted her R13 on the walls, and R20 on the ceiling (the same thing I did). I told Teresa, I can’t beat Sharky’s price. I warned her of fly-by-night companies who quote R13 and only install 1/2 of what they paid for (that is called stealing).
Teresa thought I was just trying to scare her. She did not believe me, until after it was too late. She had paid Sharky in full because they completed the work (from all she should see). But when it came time for Code Compliance Inspections, she failed. Why? The people she hired only insulated the walls at R8 and the roof at R15 (not R13 and R20 they quoted).
Teresa failed her inspection. She tried getting ahold of the “professionals” she hired, but no-one answered, and the voice mail box was full. No office to go by, no option for remedy. Teresa took the bait hook-line-and-sinker.
She called me to come fix the project so she could pass inspection and move on with her life. Now Teresa believed me when I told her, “at that price, they can’t be giving you all the insulation they are quoting.”
I hear of really sweet and trustworthy installers like Sharky getting away with this trick every week. Even when the building owner doesn’t have to pass inspections, they still lose out.
Why?
The Cheaper Pros Are More Expensive
They are more expensive long term because your utility bills will be higher. It will cost you more to make the building comfortable and cool because they didn’t install the right amount of insulation.
