Without a proper vapor barrier in your crawlspace, excess moisture infiltrates your living space. Why?
High humidity from your crawl space promotes mold growth, dust mites, pest habitation and insect infestations.
Failure to have a vapor barrier in your crawlspace can create structural damage to your piers, beams, and other framing.
Having a vapor barrier makes a huge impact on indoor air quality created by dust mite droppings and mold spores. These are two of the largest indoor allergens. Questions? Call Stellrr at (512) 710-2839 today!
40% of the air you breathe comes from your crawlspace.
How? It’s called the Stack Effect (think of a chimney).
Air is sucked up from the bottom of the house, and exits through your ceiling and attic. If your house is drafty, most people think it is their windows. The reality is their vented crawlspace and unsealed attic.
Here is what a crawl space vapor barrier does
First, vapor barriers slow and prevent sound moisture from entering into the crawlspace and evaporating. This stops rot, rust, mold, odors, and insects.
A vapor barrier prevents air passage from the ground and from the outside of the house when combined with spray foam insulation. It creates a semi-conditioned space with a temperature similar to the one inside your home. Which results in less drafts, warmer floors, and lower energy bills.
While we don’t have radon in Central Texas, if we did, or had other gasses in our crawl spaces, a vapor barrier helps mitigate harmful gasses.
The CleanSpace® vapor barrier
The vapor barrier Stellrr installs comes with a 25-year warranty. Which means we believe in it’s durability.
Our CleanSpace liner is made of a UV resistant 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with polyester-cord reinforcement. Plus, the liner is treated with an antimicrobial coating that protects against mildew and mold growth.
The competitor installed vapor barrier is 6-mil thin lines that is easy-to-tear.
The CleanSpace® liner won’t crumble or disintegrate after a short time like other liners.
